Hot Glass Cold Beer with Special Guest Ryan Thompson

Special guest artist Ryan Thompson will perform a glassblowing demonstration with assistance from the STARworks Glass Team. During his HGCB demonstration Ryan will be creating his unique vessel designs using a contemporary approach to assembling multiple blown elements together. Elements of the vessels will incorporate patterned glass using pulled and twisted cane. Ryan is also planning on pushing the scale of these objects with the help of the talented team at STARworks.

COVID VACCINATION REQUIRED TO ENTER GLASS STUDIO

Masks are also required inside the STARworks building unless you are seated in the cafe or the glass studio.

Tickets are available by reservation only. You can register by selecting February 10 from the calendar at the bottom of the page or by calling 910-428-9001. We are charging a small fee (only $5!) to reserve seating. You get your first drink FREE when you get here and show us your vax card. You can use your free drink coupon for beer or wine if you’re 21 and older, or for coffee, smoothies, etc for all ages.

RYAN THOMPSON

Ryan Thompson began blowing glass in 2010 at Bowling Green State University. After receiving his BFA Ryan worked at the Toledo Museum of Art as a demonstrating artist and instructor. In 2018 Ryan moved to Detroit to work as a production glassblower at The Henry Ford Museum, specializing in early American glass reproductions. During this time Ryan has continued his own artistic practice specializing in vessel making, applying traditional venetian techniques to contemporary designs.
