Hot Glass Fundamentals
May 14, 10am - 4pm
Learn the basic skills of how to gather and manipulate molten glass, including basic color applications. Please note, this is a moderately physically demanding class. Expect to create a paperweight, glass feather and other solid glass objects. If time allows, participants will begin to learn the blowing process. No experience necessary. This class is a prerequisite for the Intro to Glassblowing class coming up later this year.
Sandwiches, soups and snack options available in the cafe, or participants are welcome to bring their own lunch.
Instructor Claire Cadorette, from Massachusetts, attempts to embody specific states of the human experience. She has a BFA in glass from Rhode Island School of Design. She also studied at the Karlóva Université in the Czech Republic. Claire has participated in gallery openings and performances alike, thematically covering intimacy and alienation. She has worked as an instructor, a farmer and an artist.
OPTIONS FOR SUBMITTING VACCINE VERIFICATION
Once you select May 14 from the calendar below and register for your class, you will be able to choose from the following options.
Vaccine verification must be done a minimum of seven days prior to your class. If we have not received verification by that time, you will be dropped from the class and your registration fee will be refunded.
UPLOAD PHOTO
Upload a photo of your Covid vaccination card. Use something to block personal information like your birthday and patient number, and the vaccine lot number, but make sure your name and vaccination dates are visible (see photo). Photos will be deleted after vaccine confirmation.
EMAIL PHOTO
You can email a photo of your Covid vaccination card to rhonda@starworksnc.org.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Due to the popularity of our Make Your Own series, cancellations must be made at least 7 days prior to class date. Cancellations made after that date will not be refunded.
SAFETY
Participants must wear closed toe shoes and natural fibers
Participants must be vaccinated against Covid 19.
Participants must wear masks
Mouth pieces are cleaned with alcohol between participants
Hand sanitizer is available for use before and after your session
We are following CDC guidelines regarding the Covid 19 pandemic. Our requirements for visiting may change accordingly.
