John McDonald is a Moore county native with deep roots in the Sandhills. Influenced more by English musicians growing up, McDonald’s songs blend Brit-pop hooks with American sentimentality. As a member of a number of touring and recording groups, John and his band mates prioritized writing and performing original music over perfecting cover songs, which only enhanced the urgency of each performance. Now, with long drives and longer nights behind him, and a young family at the center of his life, John's songwriting serves both as a chronicle of his world, and to blur the lines between the past and the present.
