Forge Your Own Jewelry
Saturday, November 23 - 9am or 1pm
This is a great opportunity for those interested in using fire and hammer to create pieces of wearable art! Participants will be guided through the safe use of basic forging techniques, including heating, shaping, and bending of metals to create 2, possibly 3, (time dependent) pieces of jewelry such as hair pins, leaf pendant, copper bracelet. etc. Come learn some metalworking while making your own terrific fashion accessories!
Must be 16 or older; no experience required. Protective gear will be provided, however students must wear cotton denim pants, long sleeves, and closed toed shoes/boots in order to participate. Instructors reserve the right to refuse participation if proper attire is not worn.
Cancellations must be made at least 7 days prior to class date. Cancellations made after that date may not be refunded.

About Your Instructor: Ian Thomsen
Ian Thomsen is an artist metalsmith working in Asheboro NC. He got his beginnings in blacksmithing through colonial reenacting as a child and has pursued the forging arts ever since. He produces everything from early American tools, to art nouveau and modern gates and railings. His hope is to honor the heritage, while embracing the future of American artisanal forging and ironwork. You can find Ian creating under the name Science Hill Ironworks (Asheboro, NC).
