Make Your Own Mug
Ceramic Hand-Building Workshop
Saturday, February 1, 1pm-3pm
Learn the fundamentals of hand-building to create your own ceramic mug, using Starworks Wild Clay!
Students will be provided up to 5lbs of Starworks Clay, in addition to all necessary tools, step by step instruction, a live demonstration, and three glaze options.
This workshop is recommended for beginners to learn the fundamentals of working with clay. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a guardian. Minimum student age is 6.
Student work will be dried, fired, and glazed for you after the workshop. Finished mugs will be available for pick-up approximately 4 weeks after the workshop. Items can be picked up in the School House Gallery during regular business hours, Monday - Saturday, 9am - 5pm. Shipping is available for an additional charge. Payment for shipping is made in person at the School House Gallery during check in. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your session to check in wearing close toes shoes. Class will be held in the Starworks Clay Studio. Check in at the School House Gallery at Starworks. (Main Entrance) Cancellations must be made at least 7 days prior to class date. Cancellations made after that date will not be refunded.

Your Instructor: David Kwak
David was born in Seoul, South Korea, and moved to the US in 2006. Before graduating high school, he lived in Dallas, Texas, and Portland, Oregon. He was accepted to Alfred University’s BFA program in 2017. From the summer of 2019 to the fall of 2021, he lived in Icheon, South Korea as a production studio assistant and in Gangjin, where he learned the history, aesthetics, and skills of celadon. He then returned to Alfred and graduated during the spring of 2023. He primarily works on creating landscapes on wheel-thrown vessels to blend different aesthetics from his experience living in different cultures.
