Equipment & Resources by Studio

Ceramics

Our Ceramics Studio is equipped with Shimpo and Brent wheels, a Shimpo mixer pugmill, Bailey slab rollers, a North Star extruder, and a spray booth. Our kiln selection includes a 1.7 cubic ft. test kiln, a 10 cubic ft. L&L kiln, a 16 cubic ft. Skutt oval kiln, a 16 cubic ft. front-loading electric reduction kiln, a 10 cubic ft. front-loading gas kiln, and a 3-chambered wood kiln with firebox, glaze, and salt chambers. We provide our artists with up to 300 lbs of Starworks clay made in-house by Starworks Clay Factory.

Glass

Our Glass Studio, designed and built by Wet Dog Glass, features state-of-the-art equipment, including a 650 lb electric day tank furnace and a 1000 lb gas furnace. The shop is equipped with 9", 12", 15", and 18" glory holes, a stack of four front-loading annealers, a large front-loading annealer, and two top-loading annealing ovens capable of high temperatures for kiln casting. Additional tools and gear include a garage, a fusing oven, basic flame-working set-up, student-level pipes and hand tools, torches, blocks, and protective equipment such as face shields, flame-retardant jackets, and Kevlar gloves. We also house a fully equipped cold-working area.

Metal

Our growing Metal Studio hosts forges, furnaces, welding equipment, and ample space for mold making and fabrication.
